 Jonathan Oakes giving a tour

The third annual Staffordshire Day returns on Tuesday 1st May, and what better way to celebrate this year’s ‘local heroes’ theme than by exploring the life of one of the county’s most famous wordsmiths, Dr Samuel Johnson. Local tour guide, Jonathan Oakes, will be delivering two walking tours on Johnson and exploring his influence on other local famous faces, such as his close friend David Garrick. These two tours will involve a gentle walk around the heart of Lichfield, which will be followed by a visit to his home, The Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum. The tours will take place on Tuesday 1st of May at 11am and Wednesday 2nd May at 2pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased by either emailing or telephoning us.
